About

A family, one kettle, our acreage.

Midnight Sun Mercantile is Richard, Aimee, and Liliana, working a boreal homestead bordering the Little Susitna River in rural Alaska. Everything we make goes through our real hands.

How we got here.

In 2021 we bought raw land in rural Alaska and started building. The homestead has been the project ever since.

Why a mercantile.

Aimee had been making soap for years. Richard had been experimenting with botanical apothecary work for nearly as long: tinctures, infused oils, salves, the small slow craft of turning what grows here into something useful. After enough kitchen-table batches and enough friends asking where they could buy the next one, we started to see a gap clearly. We were interested in making the things we already wanted in our own medicine cabinet, pantry, and barn, and offering the surplus to people who were looking for the real version. That's still what we're doing.

What we stand behind.

  • We hand-gather wild-crafted botanicals for our ingredients.
  • We don't use preservatives we can't pronounce. Vitamin E and beeswax are the full shelf-life toolkit on most of what we make.
  • Veteran-owned, in fact and in spirit.
